FOREX TRADE TECHNOLOGY

PAMM & MAM Solutions for Forex Brokers

Not every client wants to trade for themselves. Some would rather put their capital behind a trader with a track record. And some skilled traders would rather manage capital for others than trade only their own account. A brokerage that connects those two groups opens up a new source of clients, volume and loyalty.

A PAMM MAM solution gives you the technology to do it properly: managers trade, investors allocate, results are distributed accurately and fees are calculated automatically, all running on your MT4 or MT5 environment.

Connected brokerage systems and account management workflow

What Is PAMM?

PAMM stands for Percentage Allocation Management Module. It’s a way of pooling investor funds under a single money manager.

Investors allocate capital to a manager’s PAMM account. The manager trades that combined pool as one account. When trades close, profits and losses are shared out among investors in proportion to their share of the pool. If an investor contributed 10% of the total capital, they receive 10% of the result. The manager typically earns a performance fee based on profits, and sometimes a management fee as well.

For investors, PAMM forex is simple. They choose a manager, allocate funds and follow results. They don’t need to understand position sizing or trade execution. For managers, it means trading one account instead of many.

What Is MAM?

MAM stands for Multi-Account Manager. It also lets one manager trade on behalf of several investors, but the structure is different.

With MAM, each investor keeps their own separate trading account. The manager places trades from a master account, and those trades are allocated across linked investor accounts according to an allocation method. That might be based on each account’s equity, a fixed lot size, a percentage or another rule.

Because each investor has their own account, MAM software allows more flexibility. Different investors can have different allocation settings, risk levels or fee arrangements, and positions appear directly in their own accounts.

PAMM vs MAM

Account Structure

PAMM pools investor funds into one managed account. MAM keeps each investor in their own account, linked to a master.

Allocation

PAMM distributes results proportionally based on each investor’s share of the pool. MAM allocates individual trades to each account according to a chosen method.

Flexibility

PAMM is simpler and more uniform. MAM allows more customisation per investor, such as different allocation sizes or risk settings.

Visibility

In PAMM, investors see their share of results. In MAM, investors see actual positions in their own accounts.

Best Suited To

PAMM often suits managers serving a larger number of investors with similar expectations. MAM tends to suit managers serving fewer clients who want tailored settings or direct visibility of trades.

Many brokers offer both, so managers can choose the model that suits their clients.

How It Works

The technology sits on top of your trading platform and connects to your CRM and client portal.

A trader applies to become a money manager. Once approved by your team, they set up their offer, including strategy description, fee structure, minimum investment and any conditions. Their offer appears in a manager listing or is shared through a direct link.

An investor reviews the manager’s performance, chooses to invest and allocates funds from their account. The system records the allocation and links the investor to the manager.

The manager trades. In PAMM, trades happen on the pooled account and results are distributed proportionally. In MAM, trades on the master account are copied to linked investor accounts according to the allocation method.

At each settlement period, the system calculates results, deducts the agreed fees and updates investor balances. Investors can add funds, withdraw or stop following the manager, subject to the rules set for that offer.

Throughout, both sides can see their numbers in dashboards, and your team can monitor everything from the back office.

Investor and Manager Accounts

Manager Accounts

Managers get tools to create and manage their offers, set performance and management fees, define minimum investments and trading periods, view their investors, track allocated capital and monitor earnings. They trade through the platform as normal, with the system handling distribution.

Investor Accounts

Investors get a clear view of available managers, their performance history and fee terms. Once invested, they can see their allocation, current value, profit and loss, fees charged and transaction history. Deposits, withdrawals and changes to their investment run through the client portal.

Approval and Control

Your team decides who can become a manager, approves offers and can suspend or close managed accounts if needed. You stay in control of who operates on your platform.

Performance Monitoring

Trust is everything in money management. Investors need to see accurate, honest performance before they commit and while they’re invested.

The system tracks each manager’s results over time, including returns, drawdowns, trading history, number of investors and capital under management. Performance is calculated from actual trading data rather than self-reported figures. Investors see their own results separately from the manager’s overall performance, since timing of investment affects individual outcomes.

Your team gets reporting across all managers and investors, including total allocated capital, fee income, trading volume and activity patterns.

Risk Management

Managed accounts carry risks for investors, managers and your brokerage, so controls matter.

Investor Protection Settings

Investors can set limits, such as a stop-loss level on their investment, so their allocation is withdrawn automatically if losses reach a chosen point.

Manager Limits

You can set rules on leverage, maximum drawdown or allowed instruments for managed accounts.

Monitoring and Alerts

Your team can monitor managers whose trading behaviour changes sharply or whose drawdowns grow, and act before problems spread to many investors.

Clear Records

Every allocation, trade distribution, fee and withdrawal is recorded, which helps with disputes and audits.

Regulatory Responsibility

Offering managed accounts can carry specific regulatory requirements, and these vary by jurisdiction. Some regulators restrict or require authorisation for managing funds on behalf of others. The technology gives you control and transparency, but your brokerage remains responsible for making sure the offering is permitted where you operate. We’d strongly recommend legal and compliance advice before launch.

MT4/MT5 Integration

The PAMM and MAM module connects directly to your MetaTrader environment. On MT5 and MT4, the system reads trades from manager accounts, distributes or allocates them correctly, and updates investor accounts and balances.

It also connects to your CRM and client portal, so manager applications, investor allocations, deposits, withdrawals and fees all flow through the same systems your team already uses. Investors and managers don’t need separate logins or a separate platform.

Fee Calculation

Fees are one of the most sensitive parts of any money management offering. The system calculates performance fees, management fees and any other agreed charges automatically, at the settlement periods defined for each offer. High-water mark logic can be applied so managers only earn performance fees on new profits, not on recovering previous losses. Fee history is visible to both managers and investors, which keeps the arrangement transparent.

Implementation

We start by understanding which models you want to offer, how managers will be approved and what controls you need. The module is then configured, connected to your platform, CRM and portal, and tested across the full cycle: manager setup, investor allocation, trading, distribution, fees, withdrawals and edge cases like partial withdrawals or investors joining mid-period. After launch, we provide ongoing support.
